Sonorities of the Dark Enlightenment

The 2024 US Presidential election entailed the convergence of several salient phenomena: 1) the effective engagement of the Trump campaign with a network of podcasts/podcasters termed the “manosphere”; 2) the ascendence of a particular strain of the Silicon Valley imaginary of techno-capitalism; and 3) the emergent influence among the tech elite of figures representing the so-called Dark Enlightenment (hereafter “DE”). This work in progress examines how this convergence is enabled in specific podcasts within the “manosphere” network which have become key sites for the dissemination of DE ideas.
